A researcher hit the jackpot when it came to hacking Chinese companies says WCCFTech in the article: “A Researchers Buys 6TB of Anthropic Claude Data Dump From A China-Based LLM Routers, Finds Enough Ammo To Hack Xiaomi, Huawei, And Chinese Government Agencies.” AI routers are huge threats for data security and this was demonstrated when researcher Chaofan Shou purchased a huge data dump with information that made government entities and big companies very vulnerable.? ?
What is a LLM router?
“For the benefit of those who might not be aware, LLM routers act as intermediaries that forward user/agent requests to various models, including high-end ones like Anthropic’s Claude Fable. These routers commonly log prompts, tool calls, responses, and related metadata. Because AI agents and developers frequently embed sensitive material – such as SSH keys, VPN configs, cloud API keys, GitLab tokens, etc. – directly in those interactions, the logs can end up containing usable credentials.”
The 6TB Chaofan Shou bought had enough information for him to hack and take control of government entities and mega corporations. The information in the 6TB included live credentials within Claude’s routing sessions that indicated raw or near-raw production traffic dumps instead of curated training data.
Anthropic responded to the issue:
“Meanwhile, Anthropic published an interesting report on Thursday, alleging that China’s AI labs such as Moonshot and DeepSeek redirected users to its Claude models, and recovered reasoning traces separately through vulnerabilities within the Anthropic API. However, another researcher has now contested this claim, arguing that Moonshot and DeepSeek offer instantaneous/real time reasoning traces to users, which makes it virtually impossible for them to have re-routed queries to Anthropic’s Claude. Of course, it is entirely possible that LLM routers might have recovered Claude’s reasoning traces and then sold them to these AI labs later on.”
Did AI do this on its own or was it a bad actor using the AI for nefarious purposes? It sounds like a clown car either way. I know what it is! Misalingnmentism.
