Does Animoca Brands Have a Grand Strategy? Yes and It Is Like Tatting to the LTV Model

Another short write up from our Animoca Brands’ research appears on Telegram Notes. This week’s article is “Yat Siu’s Occhis and Picots Reveals Animoca Brands’ Strategy.” You will find the approach similar to what Jimmy Ling did with his Ling-Temco-Vought conglomerate decades ago. One big difference: LTV used fiat currency. Animoca Brands is structured on crypto and Web 3 technologies.
Two of Animoca’s strategic investments and deals involve Telegram-linked or Telegram-centric organizations. MoonPay’s high-profile Max Crown left that company to assume a leadership position in the TON Foundation. Max and Yat have a history. Plus, Yat invested in MoonPay, and he provided funds to the TON Foundation. Does this past connection provide Siu with a connection to the TON Foundation? At this point in our research, the answer seems to be, “Very likely.”
The second example or what those who tat call motifs is Animoca Brands’ sale of 60 percent of an online Web 3 company called GAMEE to Alpha Compute (formerly AlphaTON Capital). This tie up provides a current example of how Siu can share in any profits GAMEE generates without having operational responsibility. One of my team suggested that this was a clever move by Siu. I agree. But my view is that this tie up allows Siu to have a better than 50/50 chance to get in direct contact with Enzo Villani (CEO) and the Red Shark Ventures’ luminary Yuri Mitin. What other benefits do these deals provide Animoca Brands? Our research suggests several.
